Title: 2011 mid bath new radio recommendation
Post by: martiv48 on May 23, 2021, 07:54:14 pm
Looking for recommendations for a new radio. Definitely want Bluetooth which is maybe standard nowadays. Easy to use and nothing too fancy. Once we buy the radio we’ll find a shop to install it.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

I’ve wanted to get a double din radio since there is room and one that has apple play support. I’ve been hesitant because I don’t know how to install and worry a shop may not know the proper way either. I know the wiring is a bit different and not an easy swap out (kind of assuming here)

Don't know if Bluetooth is the reason you are replacing but we bought a Bluetooth FM Transmitter to use with our radio. Under $20 at Walmart.

Thanks for the replies.  I'll look into the bluetooth FM transmitter.  Our current radio is a PIA to use and doesn't have bluetooth so the bluetooth FM transmitter may be the answer.

I don't know what 'double din' means. A new term I'll research!

Thanks again!

Thanks, Joan, great explanation.  Just measured mine and confirmed it’s a double din.

  Check Crutchfield’s site.

A good place for information

I was on a two week trip shortly after we bought our LD. I was fine not listening to music but then after a bit I wanted to. You pick an unused FM frequency and set it and the radio to that. Quick easy fix, however as you travel you may have to change frequencies.

Crutchfield is a great source of information and products; very knowledgeable advisors, tutorials, wide product selections, fair prices, and solid customer service.

I purchased a double-din Kenwood from Best Buy soon after I purchased my LD. It was installed by Best Buy (along with a backup camera). BB was also able to fix my rear speakers which weren't working when they installed the stereo.

I'd suggest actually selecting a stereo store/installer first, then getting something they offer. The installation service is more important that the actual unit, particularly now that everything is digital and pretty cheap. Seattle has some great stores, and I'd suggest starting with Magnolia Hi-Fi.

Thanks for all your great replies!  I purchased a Bluetooth FM Transmitter from Amazon and it appears to work great for what I want done. It paired with my iPhone and seemed to work smoothly. Will test it out more in a few weeks on our next RV trip.
