I'm in the process of upgrading and fixing a few items before the summer camping season starts (2001 Mid Bath). Last week, I upgraded both the TV and clock.
CLOCK:
The original 2001 MB Lazy Daze clock clicked each second which I find annoying for sleep. The mechanism also had issues. I'm always torn between form and function, and the old clock did not meet either need. I initially decided on function searching for a simple weather station digital clock that had backlighting so we could tell the time at night. However, after searching for hours, I found that battery operated clocks are not continuously lit. You can find a few with a button for "on-demand" backlighting but then you would need to get up out of bed. Such a continually backlit digital clock may exist, but I could not find it. I assume the battery would run down too fast.
So if I cannot have function, I'm going for something that looks good. Hoping to find a retro looking clock, I found a mid-century 1950s style clock that is hand-made by a retiree who sells them on Ebay. (I don't know him but I think his clocks are a work of art legendcreekdesign on eBay (http://myworld.ebay.com/legendcreekdesign/) They are light weight (acrylic layers) with a smooth continuous second hand (no-click), bold colors that in my view are a great match for a Lazy Daze. Most are bold colors but our selection in sage green to closely matched the RV Colors. Kinda wanted a bold color, but the wife wins, and I certainly like it as well.
TV:
We had a larger 19" TV we had been using in our house kitchen that became available. It has a built in DVD player that we never used in our house but certainly will use in the RV. Overall the new LED TV set up has improved sound & picture and is lighter weight. And anytime you eliminate a separate DVD player and a remote that's a good thing. I plan to install a sound bar under it within the cabinet.
This week, I need to clean and lubricate window tracks, de-winterize, fix backup camera, and install a Econo Tire Monitoring System. Fix bathroom vinyl, wax, re work the whole front curtain set up so I don't stab my hands, replace lock on outside refrig, add battery water, oil change ...
Hi Larame SRT,
Will you share the name of the eBay store with the cool retro clocks? Thanks, Linda C
Hi Linda,
Here's the link: legendcreekdesign on eBay (https://www.ebay.com/usr/legendcreekdesign)
I was not sure I was allowed to share - I have no interest in this other than I really like the clocks. It has a nail post but you would want to secure with a Velcro to be sure if you purchase. Acrylic is glass-like but much lighter. It might survive a fall to carpet. With the nail and velcro it's secure with no worries. If not in green/ sage I'm sure he would make one.
Larry
Thanks for this... Im getting one of these too.
