Is this just a LP gas detector? It is mounted near the floor.
Yes. Because propane gas is heavier than air, the alarm is best placed near the floor.

If original, it should be replaced. The factory recommends every 5 years.
If active, the LED should be lit. If not, it may have been disconnected due to the aging-out alarm.

Usually, there is a manufacture date or "replace by" sticker on the back of the sensor.

I had an original one and replaced it with a new CO and propane detector in same hole. Stopped the middle of the night squealing. Also replaced the original smoke detector. Peace of mind.
Any favored replacements for this detector equipment?
I ordered an OEM replacement from the Mothership on Tuesday. About $65.00 delivered.
Always good to go to the source. On line prices were inflated. Nothing better than plug-n-play.
