Besides the steel roll bars, is there any other steel framing in the LD or is it all with wood?
Hi Tracy. Those steel 'roll' bars are more strengtheners, I'd call them stiffeners. Not like roll bars in race cars or my dune buggy. I think mostly to prevent the 'flapping' of the sides and roof in high winds. (A booming sound I have heard in other brands) 70 mph as you are moving is a high wind. The construction with wood, steel, aluminum skin, with glued and screwed structure ends up being a very good unitized body. Interior components, partitions, even the window frames make it even stronger. I'm not 'light weight' and I've never been concerned about walking on the roof. I have walked on friends motorhome roofs where the roof would flex a lot where I stepped. RonB
Thanks Ron. I’m starting some deep maintenance and renovation and wanted a better idea of what is under the aluminum.
