It looks like hinge slides out?
What is the wire I circled? It's at both ends. Is it holding the hinge halves in place?
Bottom line...How do I separate and remove this upper half of the hinge?
Over the years sealer has built up and reduced the hinge movement. I'll need to make sure that is all cleared away.
It slides sideways after the path is cleared of old sealant, it's a tight fit. sliding it the other direction may be easier.
Keep cleaning.

For future installers of a new escape hatch, besides using pop-rivets, the hatch's hinge can be screwed on, with small nuts and screws.
I would stick with stainless steel screws and nyloc nuts, along with small washers.

That crossed my mind for sure.
It was just easier to order a rivet gun and attach it like the original one was.
I can see the advantage for the next removal but I won't be owning it then and it's an older LD. The original cover lasted 25 years.
