Title: Myrtle is home
Post by: WVDAZEY on June 27, 2020, 10:33:22 pm
Myrtle is home.  My wife and I traveled to the Mother Ship last week and picked up our new LD, Myrtle.  We traveled from WV by Amtrak for 3 days and Todd picked us up in the Riverside CA area.  Todd is as nice as everyone says --  great guy!

We were transported to the Arizona line where we took over.  We spent 2 nights at the Grand Canyon, then traveled on I40 with frequent stops on Rt 66.  We visited Williams AZ, stood on a corner in Winslow AZ, and toured the Petrified Forest NP.

Then we slowly started home.  We stayed some nights at campgrounds, and even spent a night or 2 at Walmart.  We had some difficulty due to covid finding campgrounds open.  The Walmarts worked out well since it made us camp without hookups.  Almost every night someone came over, visited and had questions about our motorhome.

We love Myrtle, and we thank everyone who helped along in our journey.

John and Steph

Happy your are home safely and hope you are able to use Myrtle during these strange times. I changed your on line model year to 2021 as I understand all LDs delivered this year are 2021s per Ford's direction. If I am not correct, please let me know.

Congratulations! One day I will be there! I am adding our name to the waitlist on Monday. I understand it is an 18 to 24 month wait but I am sure it is well worth it.

Regards,
 Julie

John and Steph,

Congrats to you folks! Glad to learn of your successful pick up and travel home.

Some questions for you; is your coach built on the newest Ford E450 chassis?  That would mean you have the the new 7.3L V-8. Any first impressions you can share of the drivetrain? Do you know if you are the first LD delivered with the new chassis?

Thanks for sharing your information; safe journeys.

Congrats!

We hope to be there in a few months.

More pictures please.
Is it with the new 7.3L motor?

Thanks for all the well wishes.  We will post some interior pictures soon.
Myrtle is the classic Ford 450.

We are very happy!  Being my first motorhome, I was shocked at how well Myrtle drove.  She held the road excellent and no rattles anywhere.  Still getting used to driving a class C and the rear end swing.  I parked a little too close to an awning in Winslow and had to have the DW help with some spotting as I pulled out.

The return home covered over 2,800 miles.  We are now planning an August trip that will include the Bad Lands, the Black Hills, Yellowstone, and the Tetons.

I'm sure we will be back asking for route advice, especially in the Wyoming area.

Thanks for the follow up on the chassis. But I am confused about what model year you have?

My understanding was there would not be a 2020 model year and the new chassis would be a 2021. If that is correct, is your new Lazy Daze a 2019? A 2020, or a 2021? I have a feeling the truck title is a 2019.

I am wondering if the new chassis is being used  Anyone know?

Steve,
Mike Coachman's RB, now in construction is on the new chassis.  My RB that I ordered 2 weeks after him (Jan 10) will also be on the new chassis.  They did have a few  of the 2021's in stock then, but there was a delay in ordering the 2021's with driver assist because of some sort of ordering code mixup.  I don't know when they used up the last of the 2019's, but there was at least a 2 month delay in getting a new supply because of the shut down on the auto plants for covid.

"Myrtle is the classic Ford 450."

John and Steph, we purists are trying to figure out what build year to assign your new LD. By saying "classic Ford 450" do you mean yours is a 2019 chassis and therefore is/was designated a 2019 model or is it the newer chassis designated a 2021 model?

The paperwork LD supplied to the owner may tell the tale.

Our paper work dates Myrtle as a 2019.

If sold as a 2019, it probably has the 6.8L V10. The same dependable, "Classic" E450 that has been sold for a couple of decades.
One big plus is the desirable 6-speed transmission.
I wonder at what point, LD will actually start building rigs with the new V8?

Larry,
Our rear bath currently under construction is a 2021 with the new 7.3 V8. LD received the chassis before March 9th, the date on a letter Todd sent us with an attached Year Model Disclosure Statement listing the VIN and the date of manufacture of 01/20.
Todd said we should expect a delivery date in September or October. That's fine with us.

Well I added our name to the waitlist! I am excited but I know I will have to wait, but I know it will be well worth it. We have been RVing for 11 years and decided to take the plunge and get a great quality RV for the next stage in our life.

Cheers,
Julie

Congrats, Julie! I noticed your signature line indicates your LD will be a 2022 model year. Does that mean you will be receiving a Ford chassis from next year?

Hey Greg that is just wishful thinking. I don’t know how long it will be before I get our LD since I just got on the waitlist. It could be a 2023 it all depends.

Hi Julie!

Congratulations!

Is the waiting list currently at 18-24 months?

I’ve been planning on adding myself to the waitlist this November for a 2022 November pickup.  Sounding like I should consider doing so sooner than that.

Thanks

Dave

Dave, Call now.  You can tell Todd when you want pickup and he'll move you back down the list if you need to..

Is that the grey tweed, or the brown tweed?
If it's the grey, that is my color scheme too.   Looks good 8)

Its brown.  We love it. Works well for me and the DW.

We have the solid tire valves on order from borg and vent covers from dometic on the way.

So Linda, if I understand you correctly I can state I would like to pick up my new LD sooner if I state I would like to have it by May 2021?

I read it as the other way. They will move you down the list, not up the list, so if you want it later, they will slide you down the list to hit your target date.

Yep, this is the way I meant.  I first called in July of 2018 to add myself to the list.  I knew I was retiring in 2 years and let Todd know that's when I want to pick up.  He put me on the list then and I got my ordering packet in mid December of 2019 for what was an anticipated Sept 2020 delivery.

Hi John & Steph

Thanks for sharing photos of your beautiful Lazy Daze! It is so tastefully appointed. Especially compared to the old color combinations of upholstery and carpeting. Looks like LD now even offers an attractive dinette table. You chose well!

Best wishes for many enjoyable travels!

Steve - we liked the "new" dinette scheme so we had the factory modernize our 2013 rig with the pattern used now....looks much better!!!

Done, via email to Todd.  His reply to an early Nov 2022 delivery:

Thanks for the information and we will put you on the list and will have to see how things progress to hopefully try to get something close to your requested timeframe. Will try but no promises.

Sounds like the waiting list is growing, or he is hedging against future COVID-19 induced delays.
