Post by: Jody on June 05, 2020, 08:47:20 pm
Hello i hope everyone is doing well ,I'm having an issue with the drivers seat belt
I'm not able to pull any slack out to buckle it.
I have looked at but have not pulled it out yet I'm hoping its a simple fix .

Hi Jody;  The seatbelt probably got twisted up while retracting.  It thinks that it is restraining you, and it is locked up.  I seem to remember that to get it to unlock, you need to get it all the way wound up, before it will release.   I don't know if you have a Chevrolet or Ford chassis.  If you can't get it to retract all the way to release it, maybe you could take off the cover on the reel. Or is it inside the wall?   There are solutions on the internet. Many types of belts out there.   RonB

If a MB, it is a Ford.

I wouldn't be surprised if a 26 year-old seat belt retractor is worn out, the age of the belt material is also a concern.
Wish I could find a source of replacements for older seat belts. My Jeeps belts are old too.
