Just ran across some information on the ford fleet site.  The attached page is for the 2021 cutaway chassis and it shows a 7.3l engine in a standard and premium trim.  The premium has a slightly higher gvw.    The site is:

But only the 6-speed transmission is listed; IMO the new 10-speed transmission should at least be an option. And all those TBD's still. Hmmmm. Designs/tweaking/testing are not yet completed.

Production starts in January 2020 so the Ford engineers have 7 months to fine tune things.

The GVW stays the same at 14,500-lbs, for the premium.
I'm interested in the optional dual 240-/157-amp dual alternators. With 300-amps of excess power available, rapid charging of a lithium battery pack is possible. It would enable recharging several times faster than using the generator and a larger charger.
Nice for winter boondocking or if equipped with a marine compressor refrigerator.

I thought that the 2021 offered a 10-speed transmission? Guess not....

The 6-speed tranny is standard. I suspect the 10-speed will be optional as Charles mentioned.  Could also be part of the Motorhome Prep Package.  Guess we’ll know by January.

So I'm reading, for the E450 cutaway (motorhome) premium chassis; 14,200 pounds GVWR. I think the 10 speed auto tranny would be great, but not a deal breaker. The six speed with a neutral idle probably represents  newer features.   The good news is it looks like no size changes, so that Steve and LD will not have to change any tooling. I might have to plan for a 2023 MB, assuming that I'm still alive and driving.   RonB

Was at the California RV show in Fontana yesterday and was only briefly able to speak to the Ford rep. There is no 2020 chassis. The 2021 chassis will begin production this January but will probably not be available to motorhome manufacturers until April or so. It’s going to be interesting to see how Lazy Daze will handle the timing of their 2020 models. Will they build them on the older E-450 chassis with the V10, or hold off until the new chassis with the V8 is available?

The V8 will have slight increases in horsepower and torque over the V10 and should get better gas mileage but all the numbers are not out yet. Didn’t discuss the 10-speed transmission but I’m sure it will be optional, as well as many of the safety features such as adaptive cruise control.

Perhaps if someone else is going to the show, they can extract more info. The rep is located in the big exhibition tent.
