Title: Still going strong...
Post by: Monsyne M. Dragon on May 23, 2019, 05:04:57 pm
As I rolled into a campground a few days ago in my 2003 24' FL, the odo just ticked over 200K!

Like that fuzzy pink bunny, it keeps on ticking.

(Now I just need to find a big vacuum cleaner. Downside of boondocking in the Southwest, especially the last few days with this crazy wind, the dust gets in as fast as you get rid of it! )

Well, lets all hope that it continues to roll over when you depart that CG!   :D

I believe we have a winner....assuming it still has its original engine.
That is the highest mileage I remember being reported on the forum .
Congratulations.

Yes, indeed it does!  From what I can tell, my rig has been owned by full-timers (including myself) pretty much since day one.

Good to know that 2003 V10 will hold up and stay strong.

Well, most of them do.
Owners of 2003 and earlier V10s who have not already replaced the spark plugs and raised the tightening torque should do so, Many early engines have had spark plugs loosen and blow out of the aluminum heads, due to too few threads and the Factory torque being too low. Late 2003 engines, and newer, have an improved head design that mostly eliminated this problem. Ford rebuilt engines have the aluminum threads replaced with a steel insert.
When a plug blows out, sometimes the damage is repairable, sometimes you get to buy a new engine.

Since your days on the board just clicked over 3 years earlier this month, must presume you didn't put all of them on yourself.  :)
A milestone well worth noting and recording and a great argument for regular maintenance.
Safe travels.

Yes, Royal Purple, changed regularly.
