Title: New LD 2003 26.5 MB Owner
Post by: debinvenice on April 21, 2019, 10:10:04 am
Hello everyone,

As of 4/18/2018, I am the second owner of a 2003 MB which was posted in the classifieds of this forum. I have been stalking these forums since August 2017 and finally, things lined up and I was able to purchase my future fulltime home on wheels (I retire in August this year).

I have never owned an RV before but I have been working toward this plan for several years. I did make sure to have an inspection before purchase (a 6-hour long adventure). I also purchased an extended warranty which included a 2nd engine specific inspection (it passed)

The previous owner (who passed away :(  ) was an engineer and kept meticulous records, so I have documentation on every system (original and added) as well as all maintenance records (also in an excel spreadsheet).

Even with the wealth of information that came with this RV, as a first time RV owner, I will have a lot of questions that I hope you long term owners won't mind helping me with from time to time.

If any of you are in the Southern California area (Corona for now), I would love to meet you and talk all things Lazy Daze.

Thanks all,

Deb

Hi Deb, I live just up the road from you in Mira Loma. If you have any questions feel free to ask. We could trade phone #s via private messages if you like.

Deb

If that picture is any indication you are one happy LD owner, congratulations!

If I were you I'd take Jerry's offer very seriously, I've known him for years and he's a straight shooter, he will not lead you astray.   ;)

Welcome to the group.
Southern California has more LDs than any other area, so you are sure to spot them.
The forum is the best place to ask questions, unless you attend a GTG, such as our Morro Bay GTG in March.
We are always happy to help with problems and questions.

Deb,

Don’t wait as long as I did to make a LD gathering in Morro Bay. Plenty of great breakfast hotspots (thanks Jerry) and plenty of good friends that you haven’t even met “yet”.

Having August as a retirement date will make you an official Summer Time Retireee just like me.

If you haven’t made any reservations for local or distant mountain campgrounds, now would be the time to do so. Many of us use Recreation.gov to locate and book sites but the summer sites fill up fast. Six month in advance reservations is the rule of thumb although I booked Yellowstone for September more than a year ahead.

Have a great time in your LD and congratulations.

Kent

I love Morro Bay and look forward to meeting other LD owners at the gathering next year.

I will be heading to Texas at the end of July (Austin/Bastrop area) to spend a few months with family (in other parts of Texas as well). Then I'll head back to the west coast and start slowly making my way north to spend the summer of 2020 in Alaska. I'll make sure I time my trip to include the Morro Bay gathering. :-)

Thanks to everyone who suggested it. :-)

"I will be heading to Texas at the end of July (Austin/Bastrop area)..."

I'd guess it's not necessary to remind you that it gets a little warm there that time of year. I've got family located south of San Antonio, down in the brush country. Also have ancestors buried in Bastrop. One of that family died with Fannin at Goliad.   :o

Wellllll it seems to late to stop you now <smile> so welcome to the cult of the lazy daze.

Just thinking I should share with you an image of our clock the last time we were in Texas in the summer ........ BTW that was in October.

Yep, well aware if temp and humidity in late summer. But I'll be parked on the family farm
(hangin' with the cows) behind the house. I can help my mother with some things she needs done in air conditioned comfort. :-)

Deb,

I love your Avatar. It reminds me of my DW when we took possession of our RB in 2015.

No “happy dance” but plenty of smiles.

Enjoy,

Kent

Hi deb,

congrats on your purchase.  Curious about your name.  Are you from Venice?  I was raised there.  Graduated from Venice high in '72.

Thanks for the congratulations!

I lived in Venice from the mid-90's to 2005, then I moved to Long Beach (until last week). I lived near the Penmar Golf Course and know exactly where Venice HIgh is. I just kept the email address. :-)

Deb, mark you calendar for about 9/4/19.   That would be the first available time to reserve a site at Morro Bay SP for the Wed before daylight savings time which is the weekend for the LD GTG.
If you're not familiar with the park,  sites 1-30 have water/electric.    Avoid sites 118-134, they aren't level and are under trees where turkey vultures roost.

Welcome to the group
Joel

Congrats Deb! I lurked on this site for a couple of years before I bought mine too. People here are very kind and will be happy to help you.
I'm taking off May 1 on a six-week jaunt!
Safe travels!

Thanks, Marcia,

Happy travels to you! May 1st is close but maybe not close enough.

Hopefully, our paths will cross somewhere down the road. :-)

Deb,

Welcome to the tribe!  You won’t find a more helpful group of people to ask questions, problem solve, and just generally have a solid community with.

We live is Laguna Woods, not far from you.  Our ‘06 31 foot has taken us on many adventures although we do primarily travel in California.

Keep in touch and happy trails to you!

Jules

Congratulations and welcome! I live on the East coast (Virginia), so a little far from you, but just wanted to say hi. I also have a 2003 brown MB, which I love. Hope you enjoy yours just as much!
