Title: Newbie ordering 2019 LD
Post by: Lynnk on February 15, 2019, 08:48:36 pm
Hello, I wanted to introduce DH and myself as we are in the process of placing an order for a 2019 TK LD. We live in TN so I wasn't sure if we would ever get to visit the Mothership. Just like everyone else we have researched and found the LD to be far superior to the SOBs. We were able to visit the mothership while on a business trip back in July 2018....(Ahhh those windows!!!) We stayed for a couple hours both times and were able to talk with Steve and Todd for a while and asked lots of questions. It was a super nice experience and no pressure. We got on the waiting list on July 23, 2018. We receive the call this week Feb 11, 2019, asking if we were still interested. Our packed arrived in the mail today (very quick).  BTW the 2019 prices have changed and have been updated on the LD website as follows. 24'Tk - $97,250.00. 27' - $102,750.00; 31' - $114,000. Options and prices seem to be the same as listed for 2018. I am happy to update when I find out our estimated ETA in case this information is helpful to others. BTW we have found the information on this forum very valuable. Thanks to all of you who work so hard to provide such helpful information. We are super excited! Now I have to go pick out the fabric. :) LK

Warm welcome to the cult.

The biggest question you'll have to answer is what path you are going to take to get you new LD home....... oh the problem <smile> that will be.

Welcome to the LD "family".  We are a pretty close knit group.

Living in TN you're within the range of the Northeast Lazy Daze Caravan Club.  We have members from Maine to North Carolina and every state in between and west to WV.  Google us to find our website and if you can't find it send me a PM and I'll send you a link.

You're going to love your LD.  We're starting our seventeenth year on Tuesday in our 2003 Mid Bath.

Jimmy and Lynn,

It isn't often that when one purchases and obtains a product, that the product turns out to be even better than the hopes and expectations.  I expect that your new Lazy Daze will be one of those purchases.  It has been for us.

Congratulations!

Harold

It is a long path researching and settling on and actually buying one. We just took delivery of ours a little over a week ago. We have been working too much to actually take it camping but looking forward to that soon. I will say that the experience of the Lazy Daze process is something my wife and i both enjoyed. The people there are fantastic. The quality of the unit appears to be more than we expected. We have bought many vehicles over the years and visited many RV dealerships in different cities and hands down Lazy Daze was the best experience we had. We actually will miss going down to the factory to visit.

My wife and I ordered back in 2017 and found the whole process easy. All my correspondence were done by phone or email. Dealing with Todd was a pleasure and he even sent me pics during the build. I live I NY and was lucky enough to get to one of the gathering in Pennsylvania which for us was necessary since my wife liked the 24TK and my heart was set on the 27 MB. She realized the 27 was for us at that time, we spend winters in Fl. and the extra space is nice. Yes, the wait is long but it’s well worth it. By the way the lazydaze group is great, many good things posted online I found so helpful on this great retirement journey. Good luck and welcome👍🏻👍🏻.

Model change decisions after actually seeing and 'pretend living' in one's choices are not uncommon; quite a few people have changed their minds about which model will work best for them after seeing the real thing(s). A one-dimensional layout/floor plan offers only a limited perspective; whenever possible, visiting many LD models (fewer now than in past years) offers the best basis for choice.  ;)

If you post the options you selected, you can get a myriad of opinions on each one, based on owners' experiences. You can sort at your leisure.

Dear LynnK,

Welcome to the group!  I also was on the list and got a call a couple of days ago after being on the list as you were.  I currently own a 2007 30 TB that is our second LD, our first was a 26.5 RB.  I declined my option to downsize at this time because I am still enjoying my working profession.  I knew full well that someone else would gladly receive the call from the factory that was ready to purchase.  Maybe that someone was you?  You will love you new LD!

Greetings Jimmy and Lynn K ,
Congratulations on placing your order for your new LD! We placed our order/mailed in our deposit back in September 2018. We are hoping for a June 2019 delivery so we can drive it back home to Pennsylvania over the summer (Todd said he would try to meet that delivery date).  We have to be back to work in September for one more year before retirement (both science teachers). Every day we get more and more excited about this great adventure! We hope to make it to a Northeast LD Caravan Club meet up at some point - maybe we'll see you there!

A big second to HTP's welcome and invite to join our Northeast LD group.  We'd love to have you join our rallies even if you don't have your new baby yet.  We always have newbes, wannabes and gonnabes visiting us.  Stay in a nearby motel or, our KOA near Cooperstown NY for our Sept rally has cabins for rent.

And the electric step is a must!

Opinions vary a great deal on the desirability of this option. Just sayin' .....  ;)

And the electric step is a must!

It is until it stops working suddenly and then it's a bit of a hazard. The only other issue we had with it was once in a New Mexico SP. We pulled into their dump and it was tight with curbs on either side of the rig. The curb on the passenger side was so close that when the step opened automatically it jammed on top of the curb. Luckily getting off it didn't damage the step. I wish when you turn it off it didn't still open when you open the door.

Ours lasted until just this past summer. Replacing the motor was pretty simple and we got it fast through Amazon. If you're talented like Larry and others you might even be able to repair the motor. All that said we still like the step but I could live with a manual.

We had a failure once on the old LD but still got it on the new one.  At least you can still trave with a broken step, unless you are hung up on a curb of course.

Thank you, everyone, for the warm welcome. We got all the paperwork sent off and already received the invoice (8965). We ordered the green and white exterior with the sterling/granite and maple interior. Options we decided on: disconnect switch, outdoor shower (Dh uses this a lot on our current pop up camper so this was a must on his list), second solar panel, ultra leather front seats (a must on my list), the backup camera, and heated power mirrors and added 1 extra 12v outlet in the back. We have had a popup camper for the past 7 years so this is a major upgrade. Now the wait begins!

Congratulations!!!!  The wait for ours in 2017, after ordering in August of 2016 was only 10 months and worth every minute.  We've been on the road 10 months out of the last two-years and can't wait for July when we leave Florida for our 3rd loop to the Cape Cod, Michigan and Minnesota and back.  Bossa Nova is awesome and we are blessed to have found LD.  Enjoy your travels.

One humble suggestion..... after picking up your new LD only get about a half tank of gas. I would suggest the nearest Costco ---

California gas is a tad expensive.    A half tank you get ya to either to AZ or NV where gas is cheaper.  Your gas mileage will run between 8 to 10 miles per gallon.    If you take I-10 I generally stop in Quartzsite to full up and top off propane.

I thought out-of-state folks took delivery just across the border (to avoid California taxes)?

Thanks, very helpful info. If next winter is anything like this winter we will be going the southern route since it will likely be the dead of winter. Yep...we timed that GREAT!  :)  LK

Hi I just got my name on the list but did I see somewhere that they do not do financing?  Any suggestions on lending institutions?  I am in Florida.  Thank you

Welcome to the Lazy Daze Owners' Group and congratulations on your future ownership.

Go to the top right of the home page to the search function and type in "finance". You will find some past threads about that topic. Others may respond as well.

What floor plan are you planning to order? Will it be a '19 or '20?

Chris

Essex is a division of Bank of the West. Lazy Daze sends quite a few clients to Essex. Rates are favorable and will carry the loan for up to 20 years.

I’m not certain if they finance Florida residents. You can’t go wrong by asking LD if they have any recommendations.

There are lots of folks on this forum that has done the I-10 across the southern states.   During the winter the only 'sticky' spot is getting over New Mexico.   Texas is forever <smile>.    Louisiana is not bad. I guessing up can pick either LA or the state of Mississippi to head up to Tennessee.

Take advantage of the idea of shipping needed supplies and must have items to the factory.   When you pick up the LD you'll have the stuff you need.    If you buy the some stuff at the factory you can pay for those things with a check.   There will be a sales tax added - I think is 6 to 7 per cent.   The things that they have are cheaper there then in other stores.

One more suggestion - read the manual.  It is full of good information.   The RV world is full of old wife tales.   The LD manual or Ford manual is the bible - trust em.   I photocopied it.   They will ask for it back when they give you the newer version.

Many time the electric steps fail with the step out. Several years ago it happened to us on a cold, rainy day.
The electric motor seized and had to be removed to allow manually cranking the step back in, a procedure most would have no idea how to do.
Lots of fun laying on your back, in the wet, trying to retract the broken step.

My wife insisted on an electric step and it has failed several times over the last 16 years.
The motor seized once, the gearbox jammed with debris (the gearbox isn't sealed), the main power plug corroded and the magnetic reed switch, that senses the door opening and closing, failed.
The magnetic reed switches was wired in LD's usual fashion, wires pull tight so there is next nothing to work with.
Along with the above, you still need to periodically need to lube the the arm pivots.
A folding RV step may be a better idea.
