Title: Sewer Hose Replacement
Post by: Lorna Dunham on December 10, 2018, 09:24:54 pm
OK...no laughing!!  My trusty Valtera Sewer Hose (housed in a 2003 RB) has unraveled after 15 years of stellar performances.  Could find no length specifics in my manual.  Anyone know off the top of his/her head the size I should re-order (10', 15') to fit the length of an RB sewer hose housing?  For ordering, I don''t know whether to measure just the hose, or the hose and the fittings...!

Thanksabunch,
Lorna (blushing!)

Lorna, we use a 15' Rhinoflex in ours with no problem. However, it is a 30' IB so I don't know if that makes a difference.

Lorna, He had a 15ft  Rhinoflex in our 98 ~ MB also until it froze in the storage tube and got damaged.  I had to cut off about 4 ft so it is 11ft now and there are a lot of places where that's just enough.  I would go with 15ft.  Maybe the mothership would know if someone with your model does not chime in here.

Hey Lorna,

That is amazing hose longevity!  I have tried an assortment of lengths over the years and settled on 15 feet being the most versatile for most circumstances.   Currently using a Valterra heavy duty (15 mil vinyl) for “frequent RVing.”

Mary Sue, I agree that the 15' sewer hose is a versatile length, but with fittings, only a 10' slides into the storage tube on my TK; maybe the storage tubes on the 27' LDs are longer? (I carry a 5' extension with fittings in a big zip lock bag in a compartment, along with the spare hose and fittings.)

I prefer to use the shortest sewer hose length that reaches the dump hole without kinking or overstretching; easier to "lift and burp", if necessary, and less python-like to manage and clean out!

I wonder what the average longevity is for the hose the factory supplied with the rig?  We’re still using the one that came with our TK when it was delivered 3/07. Still no leaks. We have been careful to minimize any dragging, and always try to rinse any gravel or debris off the outside before stowing. We do carry a spare which I’ve been lugging around for years, just in case. — Jon

Steve K?  You're actually still here...bad boy as usual; some things never change!!

Thanks to Joan''s persistent internet queries (and mine at Amazon, CW, W'Mart), a suitable replacement (Valterra EZ Coupler 10' Drain Hose Kit (http://www.dyersonline.com/valterra-ez-coupler-10-drain-hose-kit.html) ) was located at DYER's - make a note of it!!   This "kit"  is a great solution because the ends can be removed prior to storing.  I didn't call the factory because the Dyer product will arrive in 2-5 days - about the same time it would take the factory to just *process* an order (if they have one in stock).

I can see that different models use different length hoses.  Thank you all for sharing, especially Joan.
