Title: Electrical upgrades for LD delivery 7/16
Post by: Tiger (Clark) on July 09, 2018, 11:23:12 pm
Spent the day with my electrical guy getting a rear 30 amp RV plug (with a 30amp breaker), and a front of driveway 30 amp & 50 amp RV plug in case we pull our LD up front for an early morning departure. Got to have that AC in southern CA during the summer.

The 30 amp one, I got at LOWES for $29, the larger one on Amazon was $129

Having a  LD in the driveway, we want it to be available as a guest/play/study room. Also, if friends visit or if our teenagers want to have friends overnight.

We like many folks from the North West like to come to California in our winter and rainy season which should be a reduced time for AC and thus maybe just need that 20A plug.

When our house was built in '85, we were required to put in a 30A heat pump for the electric water heater in the garage (which never did much for energy efficiency).  After converting the heater to gas, the circuit was sort of orphaned.   I had an electrician extend a 30A line and plug to the RV side of the garage.   Works like a charm.

(snip...)

You may have already investigated, but check your zoning for details of actual use vs. storage.  Some locales are cracking down on that...
