Hi gang.
I have a bad inverter on my 30' 2002 LD.
I'm wondering what would be my best option for a replacement?
I have two manufacture solar panels and batteries.

If you have the same Xantrex XS400 that LD put under the frig in our 06 this might be a good bet based on space. Plus it will work with the same remote switch that is currently installed. However, it doesn't include the transfer switch that is built into the 400 so would need the second part.

Jim, I was hoping you would chime in, remembering that you went through this not long ago. By chance did you take a photo of the completed installation with the transfer switch installed inline?

I should have been clearer. I researched this but never changed ours out and wouldn't do it myself. So, I'm not positive that this is a good fit but I thought it was as close as I could get to fit the space.
Replacing a few of our toilet parts and replacing the steering damper in the last two days is enough for me for awhile. I would have documented the toilet work but I was alone on the job and didn't want to keep changing gloves to take photos.

Mark, before you tear out the old inverter Xantrex product support told us to do a "hard" re-boot. This involves disconnecting all power to the inverter. The suggested time was for about an hour. We left it alone for about 3 hours. When the power was back on, it took about 20 minutes and it was back up and running.
We have the XS400 in our 2006 26.5 RB

Mark, before you tear out the old inverter Xantrex product support told us to do a "hard" re-boot. This involves disconnecting all power to the inverter. The suggested time was for about an hour. We left it alone for about 3 hours. When the power was back on, it took about 20 minutes and it was back up and running.

Sorry for my late response.
Actually it started smelling hot.
I took it to a local rv shop. They said the only reason I needed the inverter is so someone could watch tv wile driving.
I don't think they took the time to look at the entire system. If they had they would've realized it had solar. So current the inverter is still in place but disconnected

Mark, if/when you decide to fix/replace your converter problem, please post what you do. Since we have the same LD and system, I like to keep track of "fixes" for future reference - just in case. So far, so good.
And Juli, I would like to see your answer to Jim's question to you.

During the de-winterizing process (after a long winter nap) the TV didn't want to work. We checked every connection we could find, pushed buttons, flipped switches, etc and nothing seemed to work. Our inverter is under the dinette seat so got everything out of the way and there was either a light on - - or a light off - -can't remember. Dug out all the literature on the inverter and it appeared that it was a goner. I called the company and talked with support, giving them every smidgen of information and all that we had already done. The support rep said that this happens. Time to do a "hard" re-boot. It worked! Disconnecting all power is the key.
When working with this sort of electrical or electronic equipment it's good to remember, that just like a computer, "signals" can be corrupted, power doesn't come through "clean", and stuff doesn't work. As with computer equipment, sometimes the best is the easiest - unplug and allow it to 'rest' for awhile. Once it's cleared out the cobwebs in its memory, it's ready to work again. Hey, maybe I need a re-boot! ;)

For anyone searching a popping GFCI and inverter, I had a 2006 30’ exactly like Jim and Gayle. With all the same breaker popping symptoms. I checked the frame ground but mine was not disconnected. I cleaned the frame contacts but that didn’t cure the issues either.
End result was two fold. There are two sockets in the overhead one on the drivers/street side wall for the subwoofer to plug into (Bose systems) and the other just left of the Bose cabinet and the Xsntrex remote switch.
The socket the Subwoofer was in all these years loosened enough that if you touched the plugged in cord it would trip. That helped to move the cord up a socket. But it still had issues if you did any shore power connection hesitations.
So I replaced the GFcI in the Xantrex. No more issues. Oh except the new GFCI sockets comes pretripped preventing any power from passing and doesn’t show a protruding tripped switch like the original.
All works properly now.
20$ fix
