I'll need to replace my frig.
I'm looking at the RM2620 as the closest match for my old RM2607.
Where do I purchase?
Hi Ted. I've got an old Dometic, (maybe a RM2607, I'll check tomorrow) in my '99TK. It is still working for now, but your search for a new 'frige is important to me also. The RM2607 is obsolete. It's replacement the RM2620R is taller by 2 1/2", wider by 1" and 5/8" deeper. The kicker there is that it also appears to be recently obsolete. I did find one at RM 2620 Classic 2-Way Refrigerator - e RV (https://www.ervsolar.com/RM-2620-Classic-2-Way-Refrigerator) for $1400, plus about $100 for door panels, more for shipping.
The next version is a Dometic DM2652RB. At 54 9/16" tall it's about 5" taller, 24 3/4" wider, that's about 3" wider, and 24 7/8" deep about 1" deeper. That is quite a bit taller and wider. That is $1081, plus door panels and shipping.
Then there is Norcold. The NXA641 at 52 7/8" tall, 23 1/2' wide and 24" deep is still about 3" taller, and 1 3/4" wider and the same depth. I'm going to assume the gas fittings, and electrical hookups are in about the same locations. It's a 3 way also. I'm sure there is a two way, but I couldn't find it. If I remember correctly Steve (Lazy Bones) just picked up a new refrigerator at Lazy Daze, about March of 2017. One day service, I'm going to assume they didn't need to do much cabinet work. The old one came out and the new one went in through the window. Now his 31 footer has a different size, and the 2004 may be a different size (more current model) but depending on how far away you are, it might be a good idea to call Lazy Daze. I'm sure they get a lot of practice on this topic.
I hope this helped.... RonB

It seems to be difficult to buy a replacement unit that has the same dimensions (link to cross-reference sheet here (http://w2.distone.com/bradstrailer/downloads/RefrigeratorReplacement.pdf)). So, I'd be inclined to replace the cooling unit with a new one, sold by RV Cooling Unit Warehouse (link here (https://rvcoolingunit.com/RM2607-Brand-New-Dometic-Cooling-Unit-P248229.aspx)).
I'd be up for doing the work myself, but you may not. You might be able to do the work on the floor of the coach, rather than taking it out the door or window.

According to the size chart they are pretty close size wise.
RM2607 H 49 9/16" W 21 7/8" D 24"
RM2620 H 49 1/2" W 21 3/4" D 24"

Thanks for the links.
Larry W. is of the opinion that the plastic mounting points will be too brittle on my old refrig. I suppose I could remove it and see.

I'm saving this link because I'm concerned about my original equipment refer going out soon. Works great now but 22 years is a long life for one of these. Thanks, great info!

I've replaced my circuit board (Dinosaur Micro P-711), made sure the cooling area is clean, but now sadly after 23 years the temps rise up when the ambient temps rise.
That's a long life for these refrigerators I'm told.
I'd like to take some money and replace the cooling unit but I'm leaning towards a whole new unit. We'll see.
We replaced the refer in our old Winnie about 5 years ago. I do not know your location, but we used a RV repair outfit in Sacramento (Google RV Doctor George). They did an excellent job, but did need to take both units in and out through the window. We replaced a troublesome Norcold with a Dometic and never had a problem of any sort thereafter.

Larry has some good tips about replacing your refrigerator.

Hi Ted. Turns out I have a RM3662 in my '99 TK. The numbers I got for the RM2620 must be the overall dimensions vs. the recess dimensions. Thank you Mark, the conversion chart you provided does make the RM2620 the closest size to the RM2607.
My RM3662 (taller and wider than the RM2607) has been replaced by the RM3762. RonB
After spending a good hour looking at Dometic and Norcold sites, it looks like your choices are limited to installing a rebuilt cooling unit or having some serious cabinet work done.
Not having your LD to look at, I have no idea how complicated modifying the cabinet would be. The opening needs to be at least 3" taller and 2" wider.

That's what I feared 😦.
I thought the 2620 was pretty close on the cut out dimensions but I need to review.
I may pull it and see if I can disassemble successfully for a cooling unit. If so I'll order one.

Keep us informed on this. If you find one that fits I'd like to know what exactly it is or if you make one fit I'd like to know how you did it. I'm going to keep mine until it quits. That could be tomorrow or five years from now or my body might quit before my refrigerator. It's a crap shoot.
Hi Ted. Your location, if correct, shows you living near me. (Encinitas?). I'm in Northern San Diego city. So you aren't far from Montclair. They might stock some refrigerators of the older persuasion, or at least would be able to tell you if the RM2620 will fit in your year of motorhome. They could tell you what changes to the cabinetry would be necessary, if it comes to that. RonB
