Title: Heater rumbles
Post by: tedeboy on May 02, 2018, 01:37:25 pm

I've noticed for a while now an intermittent low pitched rumble when the heater is running. It seems to be getting slightly louder.
Is this normal?

Hi Ted. I would expect a worn out bearing in the fan motor, nearest to the fan. Oiling it now would extend the life for a bit, but by the time you hear it, it's already a 'gonner'. A lifetime oil impregnated sintered brass bearing. The lifetime is up when it quits. The bearings aren't replaceable, so you need to look for the complete motor to repair it. RonB

Thanks for that diagnosis.
