Title: 26.5 IB questions
Post by: BillE on April 30, 2018, 06:15:25 pm
Greetings from newbie, looking at used Lazy Daze and found a 26.6 Island Bed available.  This one features a dinette in place of the barrel chairs, with the expandable single seat by the door.  I was wondering if anyone knew the dinette dimensions
and also if the entire dinette could be removed without major surgery being required? We require recliners and I need a floor plan where at least one and preferably two recliners can be added.
And, if anyone has tried one out, what about that strange seat by the door? Is that comfortable seating for an adult?
Any help is much appreciated.
Bill

The 26.5' IBs are a rare bleed. It was also one of LD's least popular models due to the cramped interior.
The dinette isn't very big, I would want know the dimensions of the recliners, and how much room you want between them, before buying this rig.
Ripping the dinette out is going to require a lot of patching to look right.

LD installs things to stay put, they glue and screw everything together with more adhesive and fasteners than needed.
Removing couches, cabinets and dinettes usually results in a pile of fire wood, not something that could be reinstalled in the future.
Without the dinette, you will need to use TV trays or similar for eating.
It could get tight.

Bill,

It’s be said many times on the forum that removing any of LD’s interior is a nightmare at best and almost impossible to remove the dinette as I can recall.

Others on LDO May have more input on the matter, but the dinette is very well build and built to last.

It makes a very comfy bed. Can’t imagine where you would relax for a nice meal.

Just sayin’

Watch out for the metal bits, chainsaws hate screws and nails.

I love my chainsaw almost as much as the LD--that allergy to screws & nails makes her very cranky & ER visits to the Ace Hardware repair shop are sad events...   :P
