There's so much information here and it takes time to find current specific info needed. I tried the search feature but it just brought up the archives. Maybe the answers are still relevant?? The mother ship said no on after market seat belts. I think its because there's too much stuff in the way. I need two more seat belts installed in the couches of my 2005 MB (we have three grandchildren now). Has anyone had after market seat belts installed and if so, what did it entail?
There are several sources of replacement/'aftermarket' seatbelts; a search (through a search engine, not on the message board site) will bring up several sites that may carry what you're looking for.
The seatbelt attachment points in my TK are *probably* much the same as in a MB, i.e., bolts, nuts, and washers through the plywood base of the rear couches; unless there's a access issue with the MB belt locations, adding new belts and/or re-positioning the existing seatbelts in this location looks to be pretty straightforward.
The topic of adding seat belts has been extensively discussed in the past.
I suggest searching for adding seat belts and the safety of carrying children in the coach.

I asked this question a couple months ago, hope you got popcorn.

Just because there may be space for a belt, that doesn't make it safe. If LD said "no", they had a reason, and it's unlikely to be "because stuff is in the way". There is a liability concern when you make these sorts of modifications/additions and if it can't be done safely it shouldn't be done.
Contact a mobility upfitter (shop that retrofits vehicles for folks with special physical needs) as they are likely the only ones outside of a manufacturer capable of assessing whether additional seatbelts can safely be added (and add them properly).
Besides the two cab seats where are the seat belts in a 27MB and 31IB?
Ron
Ron, on our 92 they were at the dinette and the rear at the barrel chairs. Obviously intended to hold down the barrel chairs. Even in 1992 I doubt anyone thought it safe to use those as passenger seats when underway. I removed them when I removed the chairs. They served to keep the chairs from becoming missiles in event of an accident.

On my '02 31', I believe there are 2 for the couch and one for each of the dinette bench seats. I have the pullout dinette. Frankly, they have never been used.

Thanks Paul and Chris. Good information.
