The different Carfax-like sites only list cars reported to an insurance company.
Many cars are dried and cleaned by their owners or body shops, never being listed by any agency.
A careful inspection of under the floor mats, the trunk and especially under the car can reveal moisture, old mold and floor debris.
A salt water damaged car will be nothing but trouble and there is little to be done about it.

IMHO all cars from Texas are guilty until proven innocent. I'd do a very detail title search - if from Texas I'd move on.
