Title: paint questions
Post by: Frank S on September 21, 2017, 11:40:36 pm
I have some Mother Ship silver touch up - what is the ratio of activator to paint when mixing?   Is the coach white the same paint as the Ford cab oxford white?   I see the LD paint numbers inside the door.   Can I find them locally?

Ford has used Oxford White for decades. It's widely available in spray cans or touch-up bottles.
Check your local big box auto parts store.

A few weeks ago I called the factory with the same question.  The paint was suppose to come with instructions, but our paint didn't have them.  The ratio is 3:1.  And it sets up somewhat quickly.  We used two (2) separate eye droppers to mix the paint and activator and a small artist paint brush.  The paint flows like finger nail polish and DW did the touch-up just like painting finger nails ... one (1) coat and one (1) stroke.

The Ford Oxford White from Ford came with clear coat on one end and paint on the other end of the container.  It was a perfect match.  Btw, the factory paint with activator doesn't need clear coat, while the Oxford White does.  Hope this helps.

Hey, Margee--

Maybe, if you come to Ladeze sometime, you can do a tutorial (I've never had/done nail polish--I'm kinda all thumbs with stuff like that)...I'll bet Ed would find all sorts of interesting things to do while you were thus engaged (as I've heard some other DHs have done), wherever the Ladeze were gathering.   ;D
