2006 (delivered Mar 07) MB...
When we switch on the light over the curbside sofa there is this high-pitched whine that emanates from the converter box. It is loud.
When we switch on other 12v lights, the sound diminishes, but is still clearly heard. This sound does not occur when any other light is on. The sound is somewhat light bearings when they wear out.
We have changed the bulb to no effect.
Anyone have a clue? The cure at the moment is to leave the light off.

Fluorescent ballast going bad in the fixture, perhaps, sending electrical noise back through the 12V system to the converter?
Changing the "bulb" threw me; I wasn't thinking of a "bulb" in the the fluorescent fixture, but Michelle's answer makes sense.
So is the sound from the direction of the converter or from the florescent fixture itself? I have a few spare ballasts left over after I converted to LED lights. RonB
I'll have to check the direction of the sound tomorrow. I have gotten on my knees and listened at the converter, but didn't think of the direction of the flow of the sound. More details in the a.m. Many thanks for responses so far.
My first thought was the bulb, with the second being the ballast. And we are running with the original lighting...no LEDs yet.
