Title: Fiamma awning question
Post by: Tanya B on June 27, 2017, 08:54:52 am
Hi. I have a 13ft Fiamma awning on my 02 MB. I don't think it's the awning that was original to the LD, but I'm not sure how old it is.  The original paperwork I have is not for a Fiamma awning, but sticker on the legs are from Fiamma.
The plastic knuckle that holds the leg on has snapped. (An RV repair shop broke it, but we didn't know until some time later....that's another story).
The model number decal is not on the awning case and I've no idea of the model. I'm not even sure if Lazy Daze uses Fiamma. If they do does anyone have a 13ft Fiamma awning and know the model?   The Fiamma website doesn't seem to have the manual awnings listed anymore.  Because of the tragic event at Fiamma in Orlando, they are closed and may never reopen. I may be able to order the part  from the UK.
Thanks,
Tanya

Tanya, I suspect that the awning on your 2001 is the original; the paperwork for the original awning on my 2003 is labeled "A&E", but, as you said, the markings on the awning parts themselves are Fiamma. AFAIK, the awnings of our vintage rigs were A&E re-badged Fiammas. I had the awning replaced last fall; the labeling on the new awning is solely Fiamma.

Fiamma USA may be able to recover eventually from the senseless tragedy, but, if they do, it may take some time. If you're unable to find a local shop with current Fiamma parts stock (or parts from the existing stock at the factory), you may want to consider replacing the awning with another brand; this may require re-positioning the awning hanger brackets.

I believe that there are at least a couple of owners on the board who installed awning brands other than Fiamma; perhaps they'll reply with their experiences.

I contacted the original owners and you are so right, the awning is the original. They had it repaired at Lazy Daze just before I bought it. I will call there to see if they have any parts.
Thanks,
Tanya

Hi Tanya,

If your awning is anything like my 2003 13' awning, the model and part number are on a sticker on the inside of the awning.  The arms on mine have Fiamma stickers, and the part number sticker says A & E by Dometic.

I too am looking for some plastic parts that have broken recently.  This website has diagrams of our awnings.  FYI, my model is: 977DX13.065.  Here is the diagram for mine.:

Laurelhurst Distributors Parts Breakdown - Awnings (http://www.laurelhurstdistributors.com/parts/awnings/horizon_977_1.html)

I contacted them, as well as dometic.  Both companies replied that they had no parts (out of stock), and that I should contact Fiamma.  No word back from Fiamma for a couple weeks now as expected.

If you find a company selling replacement parts, I would appreciate it if you could update this post. And I will do the same.  :)

Thanks and good luck,
Russ

Hmm.... May have to buy a block of plastic and machine your own with a Dremel tool or die grinder.

Maybe two blocks of plastic, one to practice on.
