Just wanted to introduce myself (longtime lurker here) as we are the new owners of a 2006 Anniversary 26.5 MB, downsizing a little from a 34' class A. We've been looking for quite some time and finally found one for sale and next thing you know, I'm driving it home yesterday! It only has 22k miles and the interior is literally in mint condition. The exterior paint is a little sun-faded and the generator turns over but will not start, so a few things to work on.....but it drove perfect on the 4 hour ride home.
We have several trips planned this summer and can't wait to start using it!

First-time users may not realize the priming procedure - push and hold the generator start button in the 'off' position until you hear the fuel pump start and then become muted as the fuel has filled the carb float bowl. Then try to start. This can be done at the inside button, or the one under the generator access panel outside.
If the pump just makes a rattling sound and never mutes, then fuel is not reaching it, or it is bad.

I can't really hear the pump that well, but the light comes on when it is priming. I give is just a sec, then hit start.

I'm curious. Is "priming" only done when there is difficulty in starting, or do folks prime as a regular step of starting the genny? In 10 years of operating our rig, I've never once done this priming operation, and have never had a failure to start. I wasn't even aware of it, actually. -- Jon, the master of blissful ignorance

Can't speak for others, but I have always "primed" the generator per Steve's post, i.e., hold the rocker switch in the OFF postion for a very few seconds until the green light appears, then put the switch to ON and press. If it cranks for more than about 10 seconds without starting, I turn the switch off, wait another 10 seconds or so, then press the ON switch again; it has always fired right up.
I let it run for a couple minutes before putting a load on it; when the time comes to shut it down, I take the load off, let it run for a couple of minutes without load, then switch it off. Others may do the process differently, but this procedure has worked for me.
If it is warm out and I have used the geni in the last day or so I do not need to prime as a rule. More than a day or if it is cold out mine wants a bit of juice first.

I'm sure you will love your new LD. I have a 2006 30' TB Anniversary Edition. Is your coach the Blue/Gold like mine or the Maroon/Gold? The MB is a great layout. I used to have one that Andy Baird now owns.

Jon, I had never used this function until someone posted about it here. Now I use it every time. It makes for a faster start.

If the gen set has been run recently, today, yesterday, three days ago, I rarely find the need to prime. However, if it's been a few weeks a prime will get you running without having to hold the start button overly long. ;)

Mine is the maroon/gold, and heavily faded. Considering a new paint job if I can come up with the 6-7k.
