Title: Boeshield T-9
Post by: Joan on March 29, 2017, 04:38:57 pm
I noticed that the aluminum "knuckles" on the new awning were beginning to develop white spots and film, indicating the start of corrosion. Boeshield T-9 has been recommended as a preventive measure; what are the opinions of those who have used this product on aluminum and/or on other metals?

Boeshield T-9 is a good choice for your application.
It was developed for maintaining aluminum aircraft, giving the metal a paraffin coating, to prevent corrosion.
It creeps into hidden spots, sealing it from moisture.
At an airport, cans of it were often seen in the aircraft maintenance bays.
We used it too on equipment stored outside, in a very damp environment.

Joan, that is the material recommended for my bike components.  It seems to work fairly well.

Ditto.  I 'found' boeshield and starting using it on my bike chains a few years ago.  Now I have a spray can in the RV.  I use it in the outside compartment lock tumblers and on the step (among other places).
