Title: Shower skylight replacement
Post by: NADAZE! on March 14, 2017, 09:31:08 am
2002 30 foot LD shower skylight replacement. Can someone tell me the size for the shower's skylight.
I'm thinking about replacing it with a crank out vent.

Thanks!
Mark

Mark, I don't have access to my '02 30', but as you know the shower skylight is not the standard vent size for Fantastic Vent. I'm curious, in the '02 there are 5 standard vents, including 1 Fantastic Fan and 2, smaller noisy fans. (Newer 31 footers have only 3, I think). Why do you feel the need for another vent?

Mark,
Our fifth wheel and our camper each had an escape hatch with a vent above the front bunk.  These hatches might meet your need and are larger than typical BR vents.  They crank up for ventilation, have a screen to keep out bugs, and can be lifted up on a hinge if necessary .  There is no fan.

The previous owner for whatever reason replaced the skylight with what appears to be a sheetmetal cap.

yes,

The second previous owners did that on a 6" Ventline vent on my Class "B" Coachman Van.  Found one on the internet.

Measure the opening,  look online,  the current Shower Dome at the mother ship is irregularly shaped they admit.  There tends to be some discussions about a metal frame and the replacement kit.

My 1988 26 MB has a 22 x 22 metal framed shower dome.  Option 1, Replace with a 22x22 Escape hatch, $200 ish. Option 2, Replace with the after market all plastic shower dome and garnish,$500.  in the mean time it is patched with Reflectix adhesive backed Aluminum tape.
