Title: How does it work with Purchasing LD registered out of State?
Post by: sandralazydaze on February 21, 2017, 06:59:52 am
We are looking at two different Lazy Dazes to purchase and each are registered in different states then CA. If they get a Smog Certificate in their state, it is not good in CA.? right?

Sandra, this link may help:

Buying a Vehicle From Out of State - Can You Register it in California?... (https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/dmv/?1dmy&urile=wcm:path:/dmv_content_en/dmv/pubs/brochures/fast_facts/ffvr29)

It seems logical that all Lazy Daze motorhomes would have CA smog compliant engines; all were/are built in California and the engines and systems had to comply with whatever smog rules were in place at the time of manufacture. AFAIK, an  LD currently registered out of state will have to pass whatever the smog test requirements are in the CA county of registration in order to be registered in California. Your best source of specific information is the California DMV.

So you can imply that when purchasing a vehicle out-of-state, the onus to pass California smog is now on the buyer, not the seller.
