Title: Gaffer Tape?
Post by: Joan on February 04, 2017, 09:14:51 am
Has anyone used gaffer tape? The "press" and reviews appear very positive, and the tape seems to be a versatile product that works as advertised. Experience reports?

(It's sold on Amazon, too; the LDO >Amazon link is a good route!  ;) )

Gaffer tape is very popular in the photography world because of its matte surface and leaves no adhesive residue when removed.

I keep some around for short-term uses.  If left in place, it will dry out and leave adhesive residue.

I knew that gaffer tape was used for temporary "holds", but the residue info is good to know; thanks!

"If left in place, it will dry out and leave adhesive residue."

I've experienced the same thing. I don't recommend using gaffer tape for long-term purposes unless you never intend to remove it... or are willing to spend a fair amount of time cleaning up with a scraper and solvent.
