Title: LED License Plate Lights
Post by: Bruce P. on January 06, 2017, 04:34:34 pm
I discovered that the license plate light covers and bulbs were missing on our new to us LD. The sockets had some corrosion, so I decided to replace the fixtures. I discovered these Peterson V298C License Light (https://www.amazon.com/Peterson-Manufacturing-V298C-License-Light/dp/B006H5BP7E) which seem to be a direct led replacement for the stock incandescent light fixtures. I accessed the lights and wiring by removing the panel in the rear storage compartment. They fit the hole in the fiberglass perfectly and I sealed the interior with some Loctite S40 polyurethane. Not a big project, but I am happy with the solution.

Hi BParsons. Nice job. About 6 months ago I noticed one was burned out. I used a light that looked just like the one you used.  Not difficult to replace because the old ones were glued in with latex caulk. The access panel was easy to remove. They are much whiter and brighter at 5000k. Superbrightleds.com, at $5.95 each. Part # LPC-R4W. RonB

Don and Ted, this helpful tidbit might be a good addition to The Companion.

Thank you for this thoughtful post, which I've bookmarked for future reference.  The link to the replacement part  was especially helpful.
