Title: 2005 MB - Dinnette Set Seats Hurt Back
Post by: LANCE M on December 28, 2016, 01:25:56 pm
Hi,
My wife and I have used our 2005 MB for 7 years now, and have become very dissatisfied with the dinnette seating.  Our backs ache after sitting for a short while.
Any suggestions for a dinnette set rebuild or ways to make the existing set more comfortable?
Thanks,
Lance

OK Lance, since I am sitting in my MB dinette nursing a bad back, I couldn't help but reply. In order of most to least smart assed answers:
1) Its not the dinette, it's you. Getting older
2) When I told the doctor my back hurts whenever I do yard work, he said "Stop doing yard work "
3) Spend less time at the dinette.
4) I used a small bolster cushion behind my lumbar to help change/improve my seated posture.
5) We sit across from each other and put our feet on the cushion across. Then we do some amateur reflexoxology on each other.
6) New foam in the cushions. The LD foam is good quality, but like most foams breaks down.

We've found that when we reversed the seat cushions so that the zippers are facing out, we're more comfortable.  Probably because the foam has seen less "bottom-time."  Btw, I've done the same thing on the longer lounge cushion, which is my bed.  When it's reversed, it has less button holes and the foam is firmer from less use.

I don't have enough seat time in the Lazy Daze yet, so I can't yet complain about the LD.  However, my wife and I really dislike the dinette seating in our Lance camper.

The solution is that we bought those lounging wedge thingies. We set them at the wall end and then each of us leans on the wedge and our legs stretch out on the dinette seat toward the middle of the coach.  More comfortable, but not great.

We have already put the wedgie thingies in the Lazy Daze.

I just tried that in my SOB - wow, what difference! I was going to have new foam installed, but maybe just reversing the foam in the cover (so the zipper will be in the back again) will be good enough.
