I was wondering what the members have named their LD's.
We call our rig Cat's Meow. When we get our new 2017 MB this March, it will be Cat's Meow IV.
I've called a few of my vehicles plenty of names, but never "named" one of them!
Any one who has seen my rig would recognize it by the reflective decal on the spare tire cover that says: 'Lazy Bones'.
Back when I had a HR Travel Trailer there was a decal on it's spare tire cover that read: Zigeuner Waggon (Gypsy Wagon). Whenever I'd encounter German travelers I would be eyed with suspicion or questioned about the decal... it seems that Gypsys are not well liked in Germany (or several other countries). ;)
I call my rig Tardis. From the Dr Who show, meaning Time and relative dimension in space. But, it could also mean Traveling and relocating discovering interesting stuff. It takes me many places at different times, so the name seems to fit.
There used to be a file here that listed names of member's rigs. Maybe someone knows how to find it.
Baxter the travel turtle. Of course for obvious reasons.
When we first got the rig we had some names lined up but my dear wife, a Long Island refugee, accidentally named it. We call our Mid Bath "DaV" because saying "the R V" is to many words for someone from "The City" to string together.

"Horatio". Horatio's Drive | PBS (http://www.pbs.org/horatio/index.html)
I was so impressed with Dr. Horatio Nelson Jackson after seeing this PBS special that I changed the name of our LD from "Daisy" (which many others have used) to "Horatio" in honor of Dr. Jackson's amazing adventure.
Chris
What a great name, Chris! Anybody who hasn't watched Ken Burns's documentary "Horatio's Drive" owes it to themselves to see it. The summary: "On a visionary whim and a $50 bet, Dr. Horatio Nelson Jackson became the first person to drive an automobile across the continent. His arrival in New York City, after every imaginable breakdown and delay, proved that the 'horseless carriage' really did have a future."
Amazon Prime members can watch it for free (https://www.amazon.com/Horatios-Drive-Americas-First-Road/dp/B01HU4YJ0K/ref=sr_1_2?s=movies-tv&ie=UTF8&qid=1478888365&sr=1-2&keywords=horatio%27s+drive). I liked it enough to buy the DVD (https://www.amazon.com/Horatios-Drive/dp/B000BITUHA/ref=sr_1_1?s=movies-tv&ie=UTF8&qid=1478888365&sr=1-1&keywords=horatio%27s+drive) so I can watch it again and again.
We named our MB "Wild Thing" because it was the wildest thing we'd ever done...financially. Also, we're of the time and space when The Trogs' fabulous song "Wild Thing" was a hit...and what's the tag line?..."Wild Thing, I think I love you."

I know it's kind of corny, but I tried to get a personalized "Horatio" plate here in Colorado, but alas, the name is taken.
Chris
Thank you to all for your clever and enlightening names. Chris, thanks for the heads up on the PBS show. I look forward to watching in the very near future. Also, Maurice Sendak's classic book - "Where the Wild Things Are " seems remarkably appropriate!
We don't have ours yet but my brain is engaged and anxiously waiting for divine intervention to strike ! And, please, please don't have me calling it names😢 I am hoping everything is perfect and beautiful. Yes, call me a dreamer.
We are on our third RV.
We thought of the usual for our LD...Happy Daze, Silver Streak and the like then it hit me.
In honor of our two departed pets (still have four), Missy and her sister Brandy we decided on "Miss B. Haven" cause it is.
Kent
We got the "built for" nameplate to say "The Two of Us". Our secret name for our rig is SK-POD.

Adorable!
I was wondering what the members have named their LD's.
We moved out of a 1750 sq. ft. house into our 30 ft. LD, so we call her "La Casita" (small house or cottage). The wife didn't like my suggestion of calling it "The B-Hive". LOL

Bingo! ;->
If all goes well for the rest of the morning, she should be sitting in our driveway by noon!

Andy and Chris,
I tried to watch Horatio's Drive last night. It's not available for free on Amazon Prime, Netflix or PBS any longer. I put it on my wish list.

Well, rats! Apparently right after I posted that link, Amazon changed the status of that documentary from "free to Prime members' to 'Included with Sundance Now on Amazon for $6.99/month'. Well, maybe you can borrow it from a local public library.
Thanks for the info about Alice Ramsey, Joan! To think of the guts it took to undertake that trip in 1909...wow!

"Milagro"
In Spanish, the word milagro literally means miracle or surprise.
So a couple of months ago while driving in our RV we decided that it was time to come up with a name for it. We were trying to be clever, since we sold our house and bought our LD to full time in..... nothing we came up with seemed to fit. Mi Casa, Freedom..... so I mentioned that maybe we just pick a regular name, like Lucy. My husband mentioned that our rig was not female. 🤔 Then I said "what do you want to name it? Dave?" (just picking some random male name). Then my 10yr old shouts out "Lazy Dave". We all had a good laugh and it just stuck.
So now we have Lazy Dave our Lazy Daze. 😀
Rhiannon?
Ours is the Super Flea. We didn't set out to name it. We were looking around the RV storage facility where we keep it for the winter and realized that ours was the smallest vehicle in there by far. We were merely a flea in the grand scheme of RVs, but by gosh, we were a SUPER flea. That just stuck.

Have no idea why...perhaps it was just serendipitous, because no great thought went into the wonderful creativity I've read in other posts...but I do like that it is nicely alliterative with Lynne & Lilly (who received the additional un-alliterative moniker of 4-Legged Alarm when we began our travels. While she did "sound off" at the stix 'n' brix for the doorbell--but never the phone???, pedestrians in the neighborhood, the periodic deer/possums/other wildlife strolling through the yard, & even the neighbor's inground lawn sprinklers activating, I came to appreciate her sounding off when we embarked on our solo meanderings with the rig's ability to boondock in less conventional surroundings).

We live on Bluebell Lane and we are Bluebird monitors. We are going to have a Blue ( of course LD ) Are there any creative name bestowers out there that care to chime in and help us decide?
Marcie,
The most obvious...
Blue-By-You or Blue Bayou.

Thanks Kent. We are camped near Appalachicola. Perfect timing flr this perfect song.
Most of the time when I pull out of my driveway, I have no hard and fast plans as to what route I will follow to my eventual destination. I am not full-timing it at this point, although I have a greater and greater desire to do so. But each trip is an adventure since there is so much of the U.S. I have not seen. So my 26.5 RB became "Dora", the Explorer on my very first trip and continues to be just that! See you down the road....safe travels. Mary and Bella, my 4-legged "navigator"!
Mary, I admire your spirit! How long are you usually out on the road?
I like to get out once a month...in the summer it is 2-3 months at a time. I really have the "bug" right now to full-time it for a year. I think I have a limited number of years to drive a motor home, so I think I had better do it while I can. So many places to see, limited time left to do it!
Mary--
Not sure where you are, but I've found Ladeze a wonderful opportunity to give me destinations I'd not have thought of , to meet a delightfully diverse gathering of uppity gals, to learn about LDs & life in general. If it gets on your to-do list, perhaps I'll be able to put another face & name together. ;D Have fun on your travels--I've not worked past being out of my driveway more than a couple of weeks at a time, but I so enjoy those of you who share yiur adventures. ;D

I have rarely heard anyone say that they regretted their "goseedo" adventures in the RV, but I have heard quite a few state that they wished they had done it a lot earlier, had gone a lot more places, and had seen and experienced a lot more than they did before time and/or circumstances took them off the road.
Certainly, everyone's personal situation and individual "constraints" (work and family responsibilities, financial situations, priorities, physical limitations, etc.) are different, but GO if and however you can manage it, particularly if the sand in your personal hourglass is piling up on the bottom a lot faster than it used to! ;)

I was wondering how many people on this forum have crossed paths ....
"Calgon" and "Calgon Blu"
1991 Coachmen Viking M-19RB or M-19VT? and 1988 LD 26' MB.
"Calgon, Take Me Away!"

I was wondering how many people on this forum have crossed paths ....
By "crossed paths", do you mean bumping into a forum member at a campground, rest stop, gas station, etc. during travels?
Pat and I were returning to Denver from the Mothership after picking up our new 30' in May, 2002, and were staying at a cg just east of Durango. A stranger knocked on the door and it turned out to be Steve K (Nukamper) and his wife from Cleveland, on their way to the factory to order their MB. We chatted for several hours that evening and have been friends ever since.
Chris
One year while on my way to the Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque I stopped overnight at the Meteor Crater RV Park. As soon as I was set up I logged onto the forum to discover that Jim Melvin had posted, saying that he had left his gas cap on top of the pumps at Meteor Crater and if anyone would stop by and retrieve it for him he would be much obliged. I snagged the cap, which was right where he left it, and carried it on to the BF. He bought me breakfast for that. 8)
It's a small world! Well, I sure do hope to get to meet a few of you friendly and helpful folks soon. We will be picking up our new,to us, LD next week.
Folks, this chance meeting with Chris and Pat was something I remember like it was yesterday!

We were towing our travel trailer to Vegas from where we were going to make a one day trip to Montclair to see all the floor plans so we could decide what to order. We had only seen one other Lazy Daze prior to that day; that was one that someone in Ohio had purchased from the original owner. Those nice folks had posted about their fortunate find on the old Yahoo group. Months later we were on the road to California and saw Chris' big shiny red rig in the campground near Durango. I HAD to go check it out! I think Chris gave me some tips about being nice to Ed Newton so I wouldn't get kicked out of the showroom. (Chris learned early that I have a problem with running out of nice early some days!)
Fast forward 4 years; we were on our way to Yellowstone/Grand Teton and called Chris a day before we thought we would be entering Wyoming. Chris and his bride, Pat, drove all the way from Denver to Vedauwoo (near Cheyenne Wyoming) to see us and they brought dinner too! One of the nicest and kindest things ever from some of the best folks we've ever met.
Over the years, we have met a few other Lazy Dazers on the road. I think it safe to say that you meet some of the nicest people on the road, especially fellow Lazy Daze adventurers.
Peace,
Steve K. (I should add that we named our rig "Bugzy" after all the insects we were smashing along I-80!)
I met Gini Free at a rest stop outside of Independence, Ca on rt 395. I was heading south to Lone Pine and she was heading north. We'd both stopped to walk our dogs. I saw her rig first and went sprinting over to meet her. She was very gracious to this starry eyed LD newbie. LOL

I first met Jerry Galang slightly east of Grand Tetons when, in my toad, I happened to fall in behind him. Besides the fact that he was driving a Lazy Daze I also noticed that he was dragging something under the rig that was throwing off showers of sparks.
As he found a pull-out on the left side of the road, I had to go somewhat farther to turn around and see if I could help. All turned out well and Jerry and I have been fast friends to this day. ;D
And big thanks to Steve for going out of his way to help a fellow LD owner (even though we did not know each other). As he said we are friends to this day and have gone numerous places together. We love to eat out and Steve knows all the good places.
Steve mentioned seeing sparks from something I was dragging. It turned out to be the pump and reservoir for the hydraulic jacks. At that time I had AAA RV ERS so I called them and described where I was. I also mentioned that I needed a flat bed because I didn't think the rig was tow-able (I had not yet looked underneath) They responded 'we will call you back'. 45 minutes later they asked if I was in a 'safe place' to which I responded I am off the road. They said it will be 3 days till they can help me....... Unacceptable. Can you imagine having to spend 3 days on the side of the road? Kudos to the Highway Patrol and Forest Service folks who stopped by several times to make sure I was OK.
Meanwhile Steve told me that the guy at his campground has a tow truck and perhaps he could help me. He called and I told him what was up and he came out and 'wired' the unit to the frame and off I went. (he refused payment, even having to drive 5 miles through a construction zone).
Needles to say I have Coachnet these days but can not say anything about their service as I have not had a need (knock on wood [3 times]).
Thanks to the LD community I did not have to spend 3 days on the side of the road. I continued my trip using 'wood ramps' from my Truck Camper days (glad I decided to pack them in the LD). One day I will pay this forward, but fortunately I have not had the need.
What a great story! Thanks for sharing. Now we just need to find out where all the good restaurants are located!
About a year and a half ago we were kicking around ideas like "Blue Ox" etc. but didn't come up with any name we liked so well. My cousin suggested "Dooger", I think he may have also called his son's dog Dooger. My wife somehow changed it to "Doogie". I liked Dooger better, but Doogie it is.
I occasionally see another LD and talk to the owner. Some of them are on this forum. Not very many LD sightings as you get farther from the west coast. I saw a few around the Pacific Northwest last summer. We were in the same campground in Astoria as John and Kathy who were next to us last March at Morrow Bay. I plan to stay in the Southwest this winter so maybe I'll run into some of you.
" My wife somehow changed it to "Doogie". I liked Dooger better, but Doogie it is."
Good choice, wife. Dooger sounds too much like Booger. 😉
We can not take credit for the name, it came to us already named and much to the delight to my wife, not so much for her burley ex football lineman husband......Blue Daisy. Yes or 2010 MB is blue and she wears the name plate proudly on her ladder.

That's what she said. :D
But I think Doogie may sound too much like Loogie. So they both suck. I like the "built for the sun catchers" metal plate by the door, but it is more a name for the owner than the RV.
"Albatross" for our gray TK. Long-distance soaring bird, mostly white with gray markings. Seemed appropriate for our long trips and colors. And, the secondary meaning of a dead weght one must carry comes into play when I cut the check for the monthly storage fee or slide my card in the gas pump for the second time each fillup. 🤑 -- Jon & Loni
Jon & Loni,
Very appropriate! I love it.
