Title: A Pleasant Kitchen Upgrade
Post by: Ed & Margee on October 09, 2016, 08:34:51 pm
DW and I spent most of the day caring for our LD.  DW worked on a new backsplash, which turned out much better than we had hoped.  It really gives the kitchen area a very nice ambiance.  The backsplash is made by Smart Tiles, which other LDOs have used with good success.  It took DW about 5 hours since she is meticulous, measures 3 times and cuts once.  The only time I tried to help her, I wasted a tile!  So I was sent back to the lounge and told very kindly "out of my way."  I know how to take a hint.

Very clean. Great job.

Don't suppose you're available for my S&B's. My DW would be very pleased.

DW was not pleased with the height of the back splash, so she added another row or so.  Let the record reflect that's DW is now pleased with the back splash.  I was content with the first edition.  My vote and a $.05 still doesn't buy a cup of coffee.  And so it goes.

Ed,

While I enjoy my LD as it is, I must say that your backsplash does look more complete with the additional tiles.

Nicely done.

Traxless

I support your wife's idea that it looked sort of 'incomplete' and the addition of those extra rows sets it off just fine.   ;D

I'm way past the point where I will take on a project like that but my Pilot in Training (daughter Cynthia) may want to try her hand at it. What I'm saying is that it's up for discussion.   ;)

I am ... I am NOT sharing the recent posts approving the updated back splash.  I've eaten crow before and I have to say, it tastes nasty.  And so it goes.  :)

Ed,

There are often differing opinions on the direction a project needs to go.

Years ago I built a dog run off the back of the house. I worked hard to make it look good and function well. For the past few years my DW has been not too subtle in her desire that I should remove it.

Although the 3 poopers don't conduct business there, I use it to store projects under cover and out of sight from the back yard. If my better half had more time and the skills to complete the task, I think it may be gone one day without my full approval. Wadda ya gonna do?

In life, it seems, we don't always have to be in perfect agreement to get something done. And so it goes.

Just sayin'

Yes I made the mistake of 'letting' DW watching The Crown (https://youtu.be/JWtnJjn6ng0).    <smile> I have drawn the line walking behind her at three paces.

I chose to cover the entire area with the SmartTiles since they went over "cleaned and treated" floral wallpaper.  I felt the window area was too tedious and decided just to paint the small area that showed on the edges.
